  • How do I understand what my flow will do?

Select the lightbulb button, above the zoom controls on the right of the canvas. The panel opens on the right and shows the configured automation behavior from the start. The explanation follows connections and separates the possible paths for each contact.

Role: a member with access to the automation. Prerequisite: an automation open on the canvas; the explanation is also available when viewing a flow without editing access.

    Read the flow before activating

    1. Open the automation and select the lightbulb button, above the zoom controls.
    2. Start at Step 1. For broadcasts to a list, segment or tag, review the audience name and contact count. Then read which messages are sent and how long each contact waits.
    3. At branches, follow Continues to step references. Conditions separate matching and nonmatching contacts; random distribution chooses a path according to configured percentages. A branch that allows multiple paths explains that they run simultaneously.
    4. Select View block on canvas to close the panel and immediately center the corresponding block. For grouped or hidden steps, the explanation locates the visible block that contains the setting.
    5. Review notices about incomplete settings, missing destinations and blocks outside the starting paths. Paths without a connected next step are identified in the explanation.
    6. Close the explanation to keep editing. When reopened, it reflects changes to the flow.

    Check each path’s details

Messages that wait for a reply explain that wait. Valid replies, invalid replies and timeout paths appear separately when configured. Date-based waits explain their reference and whether they run before or after it.

Shared steps appear once. Other paths refer to the same number, including connections that return to an earlier step. Grouped steps are included; notes are excluded.

Some conditions include their configured value, such as name, email and received text. When asked to review a condition or a block without an available explanation, select View block on canvas to check its details. Starting filters and action-specific settings should also be reviewed in their blocks.

Presence conditions explain whether the name, email or phone is filled in. When a trigger has filters, the explanation asks you to review them in the starting block.

If the flow starts another automation, open that automation to review its steps. The current explanation does not include the other flow’s steps.

Understand flow does not run the automation, send messages or guarantee delivery. Review settings before activating.

    Max opens alongside

When you open an automation, the canvas is no longer behind a floating panel: Max sits in a column on the left and the editing area on the right, both visible at the same time. Drag the divider to give either side more room, or use the round button on it to collapse and reopen the conversation — collapsing does not interrupt an answer in progress. A block's Ask Max button reopens the conversation with that block as context.

Small screens, keyboard control and what happens without assistant access: how Max helps you run the operation.
