How to use the Hotmart checkout as a step in my funnel
In the funnel builder, add the External Checkout step and choose Hotmart. It is a checkout page that sells through Hotmart: the first time you open the page, the editor already places the Hotmart Checkout block and opens its panel so you can pick the offer. Connect the Purchase Approved trigger to the next step; sales made there count in the funnel revenue.
Before you start
- You need edit access to the funnel.
- The workspace needs an active Hotmart integration, with the webhook registered in Hotmart. If you don't have one yet, follow Integrate Hotmart.
Step by step
- Open the funnel in the builder, in Edit mode.
- Right-click the canvas (or drag a trigger from another step to an empty spot) to open Add Step, choose External Checkout and then Hotmart.
- The step shows up on the canvas with the Purchase Approved and Undefined Trigger triggers.
- Hover the step thumbnail and click Add content. Choose a template, one of your pages or a blank page.
- The editor opens with the Hotmart Checkout block already on the page and its panel open. Pick the Hotmart account, the Product and the Offer (or type the offer code). The rest of the setup is in How to sell through Hotmart right on my page.
- Publish the page and go back to the funnel.
- Connect the Purchase Approved trigger to the step the buyer should see after paying (for example, the thank-you page).
- Publish the funnel.
If you delete the block from the page, just click Edit page on the step: the editor puts the block back.
Which triggers this step has
The Hotmart checkout only tells the page when the payment is approved (card, or Pix paid with the page open). So the step offers only:
- Purchase Approved, Upsell Accepted and Downsell Accepted, which fire when Hotmart approves the payment;
- the page triggers: Page Viewed, Scroll, Time on Page and Exit Intent.
Boleto does not fire Purchase Approved on the page, because it takes days to clear; Pix fires it when the buyer pays with the page open. Triggers like Purchase Declined and Abandoned Cart only exist in the ClickMax checkout and show up disabled, with the notice This checkout does not send this event. Use another trigger.
Differences from the ClickMax checkout step
- Products: the step has no option to link ClickMax products. What is sold is the offer picked in the block.
- Automations: this step triggers only move the buyer to another step; they don't start automations. To react to the purchase, create an automation with the Hotmart purchase approved trigger.
- Hotmart one-click upsell: the upsell from Hotmart's own sales funnel does not work in this step. A next offer in the funnel is another External Checkout step with Hotmart, where the buyer fills in the payment again.
Where I see the sales
In the funnel Analytics Mode, the step card shows Purchases, Revenue and Conversion rate of the sales made through Hotmart on that page, as soon as Hotmart sends the webhook for each purchase. See Which sales count in the funnel revenue.
If it didn't work
- The editor opened without the Hotmart Checkout block: reload the funnel builder and click Edit page on the step again.
- The buyer paid and the funnel did not move on: check that the Purchase Approved trigger is connected to the next step and that the funnel was published after connecting it. Boleto does not move the funnel from the page, and Pix only does if the buyer pays with the page open.
- The sale does not show on the card: check that the Hotmart integration webhook is registered in Hotmart and that the page was published after you added the block.
