How to use the Whop checkout as a step in my funnel
In the funnel builder, add the External Checkout step and choose Whop. It is a checkout page that sells through Whop: the first time you open the page, the editor already places the Whop Checkout block and opens its panel so you can pick the plan. Connect the Purchase Approved trigger to the next step; sales made there count in the funnel revenue.
Before you start
- You need edit access to the funnel.
- The workspace needs an active Whop integration. If you don't have one yet, follow Integrate Whop.
Step by step
- Open the funnel in the builder, in Edit.
- Right-click the canvas (or drag a trigger from another step to an empty spot) to open Add Step, choose External Checkout and then Whop.
- The step shows up on the canvas with the Purchase Approved and Undefined Trigger triggers.
- Hover over the step thumbnail and click Add content. Pick a template, one of your pages or a blank page.
- The editor opens with the Whop Checkout block already on the page and the Whop Checkout panel open. Choose the Whop account, the Product and the Plan — the rest of the setup is in How to sell through Whop right on my page.
- Publish the page and go back to the funnel.
- Connect the Purchase Approved trigger to the step the buyer should see after paying (for example, the thank-you page).
- Publish the funnel.
If you delete the block from the page, just click Edit page on the step: the editor puts the block back.
Which triggers this step has
Whop only tells the page when the payment is approved. That is why the step only offers:
- Purchase Approved, Upsell Accepted and Downsell Accepted — all of them fire when Whop approves the payment;
- the page triggers: Page Viewed, Scroll, Time on Page and Exit Intent.
Triggers such as Purchase Declined, Cart Abandoned, Pix and boleto only exist in the ClickMax checkout. They show up disabled, with the message This checkout does not send this event. Use another trigger.
Differences from the ClickMax checkout step
- Products: the card menu has no option to link ClickMax products. What is sold is the plan chosen in the block.
- Automations: this step's triggers only move the buyer to another step; they don't start automations yet. In the flow trigger picker they show Moves the lead between steps. It does not start automations yet. To notify the buyer, create an automation with the Whop payment approved trigger.
- External page: the step always uses a ClickMax editor page. External pages don't show up when you pick the content.
Where do I see the sales
In the funnel Analytics Mode, the step card shows Purchases, Revenue and Conversion rate for the Whop sales made on that page, and the side panel adds these sales to the ClickMax checkout ones. See Which sales count in the funnel revenue.
If it didn't work
- The editor opened without the Whop Checkout block: reload the funnel builder and click Edit page on the step again.
- The buyer paid and the funnel didn't move on: check that the step's Purchase Approved trigger is connected to the next step and that the funnel was published after connecting it.
- The sale doesn't show up on the card: check that the block panel shows Sales from this checkout are linked to this page. Without it, the sale arrives through the Whop integration but is not linked to the page or the funnel.
