How do I make an offer deliver something different from the product?
By default, every offer delivers the deliverables registered in the product's Deliveries and access tab — including the ones you add there later. To make an offer deliver less or more, open the offer, go to its Deliverables tab and uncheck what it should not deliver, or use Create a deliverable only for this offer. You don't need to duplicate the product.
Before you start
- The product needs more than one offer. The main offer defines the product's deliverables and has no such choice: what is in Deliveries and access is what it delivers.
- Clickmax plan and add-on apply to every offer of the product: they cannot be unchecked or created for a single offer.
Steps
- Open the product, go to the Offers tab and click the offer you want to change.
- Click the offer's Deliverables tab.
- Each item shows where it comes from:
- Inherited from product — it is on the product and this offer delivers it.
- Not delivered in this offer — it is on the product, but this offer does not deliver it.
- Only in this offer — it exists only in this offer.
- To stop this offer from delivering a product item, uncheck it. To deliver it again, check it again.
- To make this offer deliver something extra, click Create a deliverable only for this offer and set it up as you would in the product tab.
- Click Save deliverables.
In the product's Deliveries and access tab, each deliverable shows how many offers deliver it (for example, Delivered in 2 of 3 offers).
What changes for the buyer
- The buyer receives what the purchased offer delivers at the time of purchase.
- A new deliverable added to the product reaches every offer, except the ones that uncheck it later.
- Unchecking an item applies to future purchases. Buyers who already purchased keep the access they received.
- To deliver only part of a members area in one offer, create a Members area deliverable in that offer pointing to another class.
If it didn't work
- "This offer is already approved or has sales: it must deliver at least one item." — an approved offer, or one that already sold, cannot be left without deliverables. Keep at least one item checked or create a deliverable just for it.
- The offer became Incomplete after saving — it was left with no deliverables. Event, service and consulting offers don't need deliverables; the others need at least one to be sold.
- I can't uncheck an item — Clickmax plan and add-on apply to the whole product. Only in this offer items are removed with the Remove button, not the checkbox.
- The Deliverables tab says this is the main offer — edit the deliverables in the product's Deliveries and access tab. See What is the difference between editing a product and editing an offer?.
