How do I ask Max where my visitors and leads came from?
Write the question in one sentence — "which channel did my leads come from this week?", "which campaign brought the most contacts in September?", "what did this contact read before buying?". Max reads the same data as the Visitors screen and answers stating the period and the attribution model it used, so the number matches what you see on screen.
Before you start:
- Max answers with your permissions: you need access to the Visitors screen.
- Your pages need tracking enabled — with no recorded visits there is nothing to answer.
- To use your own AI instead of Max, see Connect your AI to Clickmax (MCP).
1. Ask about channels and traffic
"How many visits did I get in the last 7 days and where did they come from?" Max sums the period with the same rules as the Analytics tab: each visit counts under the channel it came through. Name a project to narrow it down: "only the Launch project".
2. Ask which campaign worked
"Which campaign brought the most contacts?" The answer comes by channel + campaign, like the Campaigns by channel card: the same campaign on Google and on Facebook shows up separately, each with its conversion (contacts ÷ visitors).
3. Ask where people stop
"Where do people drop off in my funnel?" Max shows how many people reached each step — viewed the page, viewed the form, submitted the form, started checkout, purchase approved — and the drop between them. You can compare channels: "and only for people who came from Instagram?".
4. Ask what is happening now
"Is anyone on the site right now?" or "is tracking on the new page working?". Max reads the latest actions, like the Live tab, and says how many happened in the last hour.
5. Ask about a contact
"What did Maria browse before becoming a contact?" Max finds the contact and shows, for each of her devices, the origin of the first visit and the pages viewed before identification — warning when the link to a device is only probable.
Good to know
- Periods go up to 180 days. Without a period, Max uses the last 30 days.
- Max only reads this data; it does not change visitors or tracking.
- The difference between "first click" and "visit channel" is explained in Which channel gets credit for a visitor: the first one or the one of the visit?.
