  • How do I see which contacts failed with each automation error?

In the automation's Executions tab, the Top errors card ranks the most frequent errors. Click the error row to open the list of contacts that failed with it across the whole automation — from every execution, not just the one you happen to be looking at. From the same place you can save that group as a list to retry or handle later.

Role: any member with access to the workspace.

    Before you start

    • An automation that already ran and had at least one failure. With no failures, the error card does not appear.

    Steps

    1. Open the automation and go to the Executions tab.
    2. In the Top errors card, click the row of the error you want to investigate.
    3. The dialog opens with the contacts that failed with that error. The subtitle shows how many there are.
    4. Use the search field to filter by name, email, or phone. The search runs over the whole group, not only over what is currently visible.
    5. Scroll to the end of the list and click Load more to bring in the next pages.

Turning the group into a list

    1. With the dialog open, click Create list.
    2. Pick one or more target lists. To create a new one on the spot, type the name in the field and confirm.
    3. Click Add to list. A message confirms how many contacts went in.

    Two details that avoid surprises:

    • The whole group goes in, not just the visible page. You do not need to scroll to the end before saving.
    • If a search is active, only the search result goes in. The list matches exactly what you see on screen. To save everyone, clear the search first.

Contacts already in the target list are not duplicated.

Two kinds of error in the same ranking

Each row carries a tag with the kind of error, because they call for different investigations:

    • send — the message was dispatched and the provider rejected it (rate limit, invalid number, paused template). The contact exists and is identified.
    • execution — the automation stopped at a step, sometimes without ever sending anything (an integration down, a contact missing the data the step requires).

For the execution kind, only contacts the automation managed to identify show up in the dialog. An execution that failed before resolving the contact counts as an occurrence on the card, but has nobody to list.

Why this number can be lower than the occurrence count

The card counts occurrences of the error; the dialog lists contacts. If the same contact failed more than once with that error — because they re-entered the automation or there was a retry — they count as several occurrences on the card and appear once in the dialog. The date next to the contact is the most recent failure.

To inspect one specific failure with the full error text and the message that was sent, click the execution in the table below the card.
