How do I find a lesson, post or event in the members area?
In the members area, press Ctrl+K (⌘K on Mac) or click Search in the header. The search looks at lessons, community posts and calendar events the student can see, all at once.
Before you start
- Be signed in as a student. Someone just browsing the open area does not see the search button.
Steps
- Press Ctrl+K (⌘K on Mac) on any page of the area, or click Search in the header. On mobile the button shows as a magnifier only, and inside a lesson it sits in the lesson header.
- Type at least 2 letters. The search waits until you stop typing and shows results in groups: Lessons, Posts and Events.
- Use the arrow keys to move and Enter to open, or click a result. Esc closes the search.
What each result opens
- Lesson: opens the lesson. If it is still locked for the student, it shows with the lock notice.
- Post: opens the community channel at that post.
- Event: opens the Calendar with that event open.
What shows up
- Only what the student can already see: lessons from the courses they have access to, and events from their calendars and classes.
- When you type several words, a result must contain all of them in the title or description.
- If the student is blocked in the community, posts do not appear, but lessons and events still do.
- If the search fails, the window shows a notice to try again instead of "no results".
