  • Delete a domain

Deleting a domain takes everything published on it offline and frees the name to be added again, in this or another workspace. Pages are not erased: they stay in the project, without a domain, ready to be published at another address.

    Before you start

    • Role: workspace Owner or Administrator.
    • A domain on the previous version in Connecting or Securing, checked less than 5 minutes ago: the screen says We just updated this domain and the Delete button stays disabled until that time passes (on hover: Available in 5 minutes). In the list, the Delete domain item in the ⋯ menu is disabled too; in bulk deletion, that domain is left out (see below). The new version has no such wait.

    Step by step

    1. Go to Settings → Domains.
    2. At the end of the domain's row, click ⋯ and then Delete domain. (On the domain's screen, the Delete button opens the same confirmation.)
    3. Review the What's affected box: it counts what uses the domain — for example, 2 published pages go offline, 1 funnel loses its address, 3 short links and redirects are deleted — and only shows what applies. If nothing is published on it, you see Nothing published uses this domain. Type the domain name exactly as shown (case doesn't matter; the field turns green when it matches) and confirm with Delete domain.

You return to the list with the message Domain removed.

    Delete several domains at once

    1. In Settings → Domains, tick the box next to each domain's name. The box in the header ticks every domain on the page.
    2. In the bar that shows up at the bottom, click Delete.
    3. Review the Selected domains list (with up to 10 ticked, each row says how many items use that domain), type EXCLUIR (the confirmation word is the same in every language) and confirm with Delete N domains.

A previous-version domain checked less than 5 minutes ago is left out: it shows struck through in the list, with the notice … was just checked and can only be deleted in 5 minutes — it was left out, and the button counts only the others. If none of the selected domains can be deleted right now, the button is disabled and the dialog asks you to try again in 5 minutes.

The message tells you how many domains were removed. If one fails, a second message shows its name and the reason, with Try again to repeat only the ones that failed; they stay ticked. The selection only covers the list page on screen.

What happens to what was on the domain

    • Pages published on it go offline and stay in the project as unpublished, without a domain. Publish them again on another domain whenever you want.
    • A page whose address already existed on the project's default domain (for example, a / home on both) stays in the project with the domain name appended to its address (e.g. /pricing-shop-example-com). Rename the address if you want.
    • Funnels published on it have no address until you pick another domain for the funnel.
    • Short links and redirects created on it are deleted.
    • Emails sent through this domain stop being sent. To send again, connect the email domain once more.

    Add the same domain again

Once deleted, the name is free right away: add it again in Settings → Domains → Add domain and point the DNS following Connect a domain you already own. If the CNAME at your provider stayed the same, the connection usually completes in a few minutes.

    If it didn't work

    • Could not delete the domain with the notice that it was checked less than 5 minutes ago: wait that long and try again.
    • Opening the link of an already deleted domain shows This domain no longer exists: use View domains to go back to the list or Add domain to register it again.
    • The site still opens right after deletion: the cleanup takes a few minutes to reach every server. If it goes past an hour, contact support.
