How do I paste a screenshot or file into the chat?
With the cursor in the message box, press Ctrl+V (on a Mac, Cmd+V). A screenshot or a file copied from your computer becomes an attachment, just like one added with the attach button.
Before you start
- Where: Support, inside a conversation.
- Role: the usual one; permissions do not change.
Paste a screenshot or file
- Copy the screenshot (for example, with a screen capture tool) or select files in your computer's file explorer and copy them. Images, PDF, CSV, Excel, Word and other files work.
- Click the conversation's message box.
- Press Ctrl+V (or Cmd+V). The attachment shows up in the box, ready to send.
- Add a caption if you like, then send.
Pasted attachments follow the same limits as the attach button. If a file is rejected, read the message on screen and try a smaller file or a different type.
What does not become an attachment
- Text only: it is still pasted as text in the box.
- Cells copied from Excel: the content is pasted as text, not as a file. To send the spreadsheet, copy the file in your computer's file explorer and paste it.

If it didn't work
- Nothing happened when pasting: click the message box first and try again. If what you copied was only text, it is pasted as text.
- A phone has no Ctrl+V: use the attach button.
