      • How do I stop the same contact from entering the automation several times?

      Use the Lead cooldown. While its window is running, the same contact does not enter the automation again, whichever trigger they come through. Every new automation starts with a 1 hour cooldown turned on.

      It matters most when the automation has more than one trigger: the same lead can be captured more than once in a row and get repeated messages, tasks and notifications.

      Role: any member who can edit the automation.

      Change the period or turn it off

      1. Open the automation in the editor.
      2. On the trigger card, click the Cooldown: 1 hour chip (or No cooldown, if it is off).
      3. In the Lead cooldown window, pick an option:
        • No cooldown: the same contact can enter again at any time. Each delivery of the event can create another run for the same person.
        • 1 hour, 6 hours, 24 hours or 7 days.
      4. Click Save. The chip now shows the chosen period.

      On an automation you can only view, the chip shows the current period but does not open the window.

      Automations created before this change keep the cooldown they already had, including those set to No cooldown.

      When running manually

      In a manual run, contacts who went through the automation within the cooldown window are left out, with the option to include them anyway. See Run an automation manually.
