How do I send a WhatsApp template to a contact?
In the contact Profile block, on the WhatsApp row, click Send template: the Send WhatsApp modal opens with the contact already in To. It is the same send as a WhatsApp broadcast, just to one person — it uses credits, is recorded in the WhatsApp broadcasts list named template · contact, and the conversation shows up in Live Chat.
Before you start
- Where: the Profile block appears in Live Chat (panel beside the conversation), in the opportunity (contact column) and on the contact page.
- Role: the button only shows for people who can create broadcasts.
- Number: you need a connected WhatsApp number with broadcast use turned on. See how to connect WhatsApp.
- Contact: must have a phone number and must not have opted out of WhatsApp.
- Templates: only approved Marketing and Utility templates are listed.
Steps
- In the Profile block, click Send template on the WhatsApp row.
- In Number, choose which number the message goes out from (if the conversation was already open, its number comes selected) and click Continue.
- In Template, pick an approved template. If it has variables, fill them in the dialog that opens.
- To check first, use Send test.
- In When to send, keep Send now or choose Schedule with a date and time (Brasília time).
- Click Finish and send (or Finish and schedule). The modal shows WhatsApp sent to name or Send scheduled, with the date.
If something blocks the send
Issues show in the modal footer:
- Name has no phone number: add the number in the contact's profile and reopen the modal.
- Name no longer receives your WhatsApp messages: the contact asked not to receive them; sending is blocked.
- The sender number is banned: pick another number.
- Insufficient credits: top up the workspace credits.
