How do triggers and conditions work in automations?
Every automation has a trigger (the event that starts it) and can use conditions (which branch the path according to the contact's data).
- Trigger: fires the automation when something happens — for example, the contact joins a list, a tag is applied, they make a purchase or they ask for a refund.
- Conditions: partway through the flow, they check a piece of contact information (tag applied, product bought, pipeline stage) and send each person down a different branch.
That is how you personalise the journey: people who bought go one way, people who only showed interest go another.

If it didn't work
- The automation does not start: check that the trigger you chose matches the contact's real event in automation triggers.
- The contact took the wrong branch: review the tags and data used in the conditions in Contacts.
