How do I create my first welcome automation?
If you have never built an automation, start with this one. One trigger, one wait, one message — and everything else makes sense from there.
Before you start
- Role: Owner, Admin or Editor.
- A connected channel in Messaging. For email, set up your email domain first.
- A capture form that already works.
1. Choose the trigger
The trigger is what makes the automation start. Here it is a new contact being captured — the Capture Form Submitted trigger. The full catalogue lives in the automation triggers reference (Portuguese).
2. Create the automation
Follow your first automation to build the flow and attach it to the trigger.
3. Write the message
Just one. It has to do three things:
- Confirm the sign-up worked.
- Deliver what was promised, or say when it arrives.
- Say what happens next.
Write like someone replying to a person, not like someone publishing an announcement.
4. Set the timing
A welcome is the one case where immediate is almost always right: the person has just signed up and is waiting for you.
5. Test it on yourself
Sign up through the real form with an address of your own, and walk through everything the contact sees. Check that they landed in your base correctly too — see full contact profile.
6. Activate it
An automation that has been created is not an automation that is running: you have to activate it. Once it shows as Active, capture one more test lead to confirm it fires on its own.
What next
With this one working, chain the full sequence in email nurture sequence.

If it didn't work
- Nothing fires: confirm the automation is Active and that the trigger is the right one.
- The message never arrives: check the channel and, for email, the email domain.
- It fires twice: you may have two automations sitting on the same trigger.
