  • How do I see how many people clicked and signed up on each button of my external page?

    Give each button an ID, send that ID on the click and on the sign-up, and create one Contact Captured trigger per ID in the funnel. In Analytics Mode, each connection shows how many contacts came from that button and how many clicks it got before.

    This is for pages where several buttons open the same form — for example, a pricing page where every plan opens the same sign-up modal and then goes to a different checkout.

    Before you start

    1. Pick one ID per button

    Use a short, fixed text, such as plan-growth, plan-pro and plan-business. The same ID goes on the click, on the sign-up and on the funnel trigger.

    2. Record the click without leaving the page

    On the button click, before opening the form:

    window.cxs('track', 'button_click', { elementId: 'plan-pro', navigate: false });

    navigate: false only records the click. Without it, Clickmax may send the visitor to the next funnel step before the form opens.

    3. Send the same ID on the sign-up

    Pass the ID as the third argument of cxs('lead', ...):

    window.cxs('lead', contactData, callback, { elementId: 'plan-pro' });

    The ID does not become a contact field — it only identifies where the sign-up came from. Details in Create a lead via JavaScript.

    4. Create one trigger per button in the funnel

    1. On the external page card, add a Contact Captured trigger.
    2. Under Can't find the element? Type its ID, type plan-pro and click Add. Confirm.
    3. Connect the trigger to that plan's step, such as the Pro checkout.
    4. Repeat for each button.

    A Contact Captured trigger with no ID counts every sign-up on the page.

    5. See the numbers

    Turn on Analytics Mode in the funnel. Each connection shows the contacts captured from that button and, below, how many clicks it got before.

    If it didn't work

    • The connection shows —: no sign-up arrived with that ID in the period. Check that the trigger ID matches the one sent in cxs('lead', ...), including upper and lower case.
    • Clicks show up but sign-ups don't: the ID is on the click but missing from the third argument of cxs('lead', ...).
    • The visitor leaves the page on click: navigate: false is missing on the click.
    • Numbers only count from when you published the page with the IDs. Earlier sign-ups have no ID.
