Core concepts
Funnel, contact, lead, opportunity, stage, pipeline, tag, list, segment and automation are the terms Clickmax uses throughout the interface. Each one is always called the same thing in the product and in this documentation — use this page as a reference when a term shows up on a screen and you are not sure what it means.
Role and plan: understanding these concepts requires no particular role or plan — they exist in every Clickmax workspace. What changes between roles is what each one can do with them. To find out who can create, edit or export what, see roles and permissions (Portuguese).
The funnel and its parts
A funnel is the map of a visitor's journey to a sale: a set of pages and steps linked together. It is where you design how a visitor comes in and where they go next. A funnel has a goal — capture leads, sell, book a meeting or qualify — which drives the metrics it shows.
Inside the funnel, each block is a node (a page, an A/B test, an automation, a quiz, an external link). Nodes are connected by triggers: a visitor action (viewing the page, clicking a button, abandoning the cart, buying) that moves them from the current node to the next.
Contact and lead
A contact is a person's record in the CRM: name, email, phone and their history with you. It is the permanent file.
A lead is that same person seen from the capture angle — someone who came in through a funnel, form or integration and is still being qualified. Every lead becomes a contact; the word "lead" emphasises where they came from and how interested they are. A lead's status evolves as they move forward (for example: viewed the page, subscribed, added to cart, purchased).
Opportunity, stage and pipeline
An opportunity is a concrete deal with a contact, worked by a sales team. It has a status: open, won or lost.
A stage is each column an opportunity passes through — where the deal stands right now. A stage is one of: not started, in progress, won or lost.
A pipeline is the board that holds those stages in order. Each opportunity lives in one stage of a pipeline, and you move it from stage to stage as the deal progresses.
Tag, list and segment
Three different ways to organise contacts:
- Tag — a label you attach to a contact to mark it (for example, "VIP customer" or "came from the webinar"). A contact can have several.
- List — a static group: you choose who goes in and who comes out, by hand. It does not change on its own.
- Segment — a dynamic group: defined by a filter (tags, source, date…). Every contact that starts matching the rules joins, and anyone who stops matching leaves — without you doing anything.
Automation
An automation (also called a flow) is a sequence of actions the system runs on its own when a trigger fires — for example: contact gets a tag → send an email a day later. It is what keeps repetitive work running without you. An automation can be a node inside a funnel or exist on its own.
Where these concepts meet
- Checkout — the payment page where the sale actually happens.
- Affiliate — a partner who promotes your product and earns commission on the sales they bring.
- Member — someone with access to your members area (the content delivered after purchase).

If it didn't work
- A captured lead does not show up in the CRM: check your plan's contact limit (Portuguese).
- You cannot create lists, segments or pipelines: your role may not have CRM access — see when "no permission" appears (Portuguese).
- You got an error message when saving: look the code up in error codes (Portuguese).
